Mistico II

AAA held a festival in the streets of Mexico City on Wednesday celebrating Triplemania XX where pretty much the entire roster marched to the Basilica of Guadalupe for a special mass in honor of Antonio Pena. Everyone on the roster forgot their issues with the other wrestlers that day and celebrated together to honor AAA and Triplemania There were two buses filled with wrestlers that traveled the streets throwing out merchandise to people on the street

Last week I mentioned the issues that were going on between La Familia de Tijuana & Los Perros del Mal at the Lucha Fan Expo press conference well now it is spilling out among booking wrestlers. Reports are that the groups are making independent contractors pick sides in the war with guys getting basically blacklisted if they make the “wrong choice.” Most of the bigger names are working with the Perros due to their higher profile.

One of the greatest rock bands of the last 30 years, Metallica was in attendance at Friday’s show at Arena Mexico taking in the lucha libre excitement and atmosphere. Metallica has been in Mexico City the last few days playing in front of 22,000 plus at the Palacio de los Deportes.

4. Angel de Oro/Mistico II/Valiente defeated Ephesto/Euforia/Mephisto – There was big pomp and circumstance before the match with Fray Tormenta introducing Mistico II and anoiting him as the fans were polarizing like the original Mistico with the women & children going nuts and the hardcore male fans booing him. All in all Mistico II did a good job here and should be credited with drawing the big house here. Mistico II himself rated his performance a 7 out of 10 so it will be interesting to see how the gimmick fares from here.
5. Mascara Dorada/Maximo/Shocker beat Negro Casas/Mr. Niebla/Volador Jr. who got destroyed by his teammates and Zacarias after the match. Volador wanted a mask match with Niebla afterwards but he declined.
6. CMLL Tag Titles: Atlantis & Diamante Azul defeated Dragon Rojo & Ultimo Guerrero to win the titles. The rudos had some issues in the last fall causing their demise.
