NEWSFuerza Mexicana de Lucha Libre promoter Rocky Roman who has promoted shows based out of Southern California but also in Illinois, Texas, and other states for well over 10 years passed away yesterday. He has been battling some health issues for the last few months and had to cancel a show that was supposed to take place last Friday night because of said issues. Rocky was one of the very few promoters who could book both CMLL & AAA talent on the same shows and was a great asset in the cause of bringing lucha libre to the United States. QEPD Rocky.
Angel de Oro posted on his Facebook page that he will be out of action for close to 3 months due to a right knee injury.
Babe Richard along with other retired wrestlers have started up a foundation to help retired and injured luchadores with their money issues and it’s called Lucha AC with support by LEGEND Producciones. The first benefit show will take place at the Lucha Fan Fest on 6/1 at Arena Lopez Mateos which has also become a benefit show for Lasser who was a high flyer in the late 90′s and more recently has worked as Gato Volador in various Monterrey promotions. Not only will the show itself be a benefit but they are going to auction off masks from such stars as Hijo del Santo & Rayo de Jalisco Jr. as well.
Billy el Malo was on the Tercera Caida show yesterday and told them that his doctors told him that he needs to take a year off due to his severe hand injury but he said that he hopes to be back in the next couple of months.
Rey Bucanero is replacing Rush on the Chilanga Mask show at Arena Coliseo de Coacalco on Sunday but it isn’t known whether the subsitition is because of the car wreck Rush was involved in on Monday or if he was simply pulled by CMLL.
World Wrestling League which promoted a big show in Puerto Rico last month will be touring Mexico & United States during the summer will be holding a show in Monterrey on 7/7 and will send talent to AAA for Triplemania XXI on 6/16 in Mexico City. They have already announced that Blue Demon Jr., Mil Mascaras, Sicodelico Jr., Bobby Lashley, & John Morrison will be coming in for the tour with more names to come.
