Today Tokyo Sports anounced the winners of this year`s Tokyo Sports awards. For the first time since 2011 the MVP award went to someone not named Hiroshi Tanahashi or Kazuchika Okada as Tetsuya Naito`s year was crowned by the most important award in japanese pro-wrestling. The full set of winners are als follows:

Most Valuable Player Award: Tetsuya Naito

Best Bout: Kazuchika Okada vs. Naomichi Marufuji (18.07.2016, NJPW G1 Climax 2016 - Tag 1)

Best Tag Team Prize: Daisuke Sekimoto & Yuji Okabayashi

Outstanding Performance Award: Kento Miyahara

Fighting Spirit Award: Katsuhiko Nakajima

Technique Award: Kenny Omega

Special Service/Lifetime Achievement Award: Hayabusa

Women`s Wrestling Award: Io Shirai

Rookie Award: Chihiro Hashimoto
